The Music of Art




First graders are finding art in the shapes of musical instruments. The students looked at a variety of musical instruments: A trumpet, trombone, and a guitar. Then students simplified them into basic geometric shapes and colored them in cray-pa crayons.

First Grade Day of the Dead Paper Skulls





First graders learned about the Mexican Holiday Day of the Dead. As part of this lesson students learned to fold paper and cut out paper skulls that they then decorated in the celebratory bright colors of Day of the Dead.

Starry Nights!





First Graders learned about Vincent Van Gogh and his painting "Starry Night". On this post they are beginning the process of making their own painting/ drawing of Van Gogh's famous work of art.

Welcome Back!





Summer break has ended and students are back at school. A new year of art classes have begun as well. This year all classes have started by decorating their art folder with a multi-media self-portrait.
