Second Graders looked at the shapes, colors and designs found in amusement parks. The students discussed their various experiences with fairs, carnivals, and amusement parks. Then the students set to task designing their very own park.
Second Graders learned about the East Asian art form of ink painting. The students were introduced to a bamboo ink brush and how to use it. Then the students practiced making lines with the brush. Finally, the students made a landscape painting in the tradition of one found in Japan.
Summer break has ended and students are back at school. A new year of art classes have begun as well. This year all classes have started by decorating their art folder with a multi-media self-portrait.
